The Beacon Group is comprised of four separate operating companies and has financial services ranging from Financial Advice to Mortgage Lending. Founded by two of the industry's most experienced executives, Mark Abbott and Andrew Townsend, the group has an entrepreneurial culture and an appetite for growth.

Established in 1986, Beacon Asset Management Ltd was the founder member of the group. As a long standing firm of professional Independent Financial Advisers, it continues to provide independent, impartial advice on all aspects of financial planning.

In August 2003, the second company to be launched as part of the group was Beacon Mortgages Ltd. A mortgage packager and distributor, Beacon Mortgages at this time provided a bespoke service to its mortgage intermediaries. In conjunction with the additionally acquired mortgage packager Bananas Inc in 2007, the operations of Beacon Mortgages have since been amalgamated into and superseded by Beacon Mortgage Packaging Ltd. This mortgage packager and distributor attributes success to its commitment to quality service, professionalism, in-depth knowledge of the market and a keen understanding of brokers.

In 2005 the residential mortgage lender Beacon Homeloans Ltd was created to provide market leading mortgage products exclusively distributed through the Regulatory Alliance of Mortgage Packagers (RAMP). In May 2006, owing to market demand of the Beacon proposition, distribution was opened up to other selected professional mortgage packagers throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

April 2007 saw the acquisition of both mdnationwide Ltd and as previously stated, Bananas Inc. mdnationwide is a direct to consumer broker with a wealth of experience and access to a wide range of lenders.
